We designed a two-tiered, low-lying stone wall which circles the perimeter of the garden and serves as a planting bed for a Californian take on an English garden with low-water and native plants like Achillea, Salvia, Rosemary, Lavender, as an ode to the client's Welsh upbringing. We trellised climbing rose and planted swift growers like Matilija poppy and Leonotis on the perimeter of the beds to give the space an enclosed feel and used a varied bloom palette to ensure color year-round.
